New York, NY, January 23, 2012 – The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York’s premiere French cultural center, presents the New York concert debut of French rock icon Arthur H on Wednesday, February 22 at FIAF’s Florence Gould Hall. Winner of the 2009 Pop/Rock Album of the Year Award at Les Victoires de la Musique, Arthur H will perform songs from his new album Baba Love, released in France in October 2011 to rave reviews.

Pianist, singer, and songwriter Arthur H has been hailed as the quintessential French chanteur, a musical heir to Serge Gainsbourg with echoes of Tom Waits and Boris Vian. Arthur H is known for his melodic, cracked voice, electrifying live performances, and lyrics that fuse poetry with sensuality and humor. His singing is marked by a seductive musicality, delivered with passion and a charming nonchalance that, while distinctly French in style, transcends language. With musical influences that include Thelonious Monk, the Sex Pistols, jazz, blues, rock, electro, Middle Eastern, and gypsy music, Arthur H’s singular sound world has been compared to the striking paintings of Hieronymus Bosch—each album is a brand new trip, a new imaginative and sonic exploration.

Baba Love, Arthur H’s tenth studio album, includes songs in French and English and features duets with guest performers such as American MC Saul Williams, legendary French actor Jean-Louis Trintignant, and Arthur H’s own sister, the singer Izia, among others. To produce Baba Love, Arthur H founded his own production and publishing company, and recorded on diverse instruments including an organ used by The Doors, a Vox Electra, a 1974 Rhodes piano, and an old mellotron from the 1960s to create a pure and organic sound.

La Mordue, c’est une sensibilité, une fragilité, une révolte.

Sensibilité des mots qui collent à la musique pour ne faire qu’un. Fragilité d’une voix se frayant un chemin entre guitares, Rhodes, accordéon et percussions. Révolte d’un regard lucide sur un monde parfois cruel. La Mordue, c’est à écouter, à voir, à … vivre!
Après avoir accompagné plusieurs artistes sur plus de 250 concerts en France, Suisse, Belgique, Allemagne et fait les premières parties de Benabar, Sanseverino, Olivia Ruiz ou encore Tryo, Caroline Varlet, auteur compositeur interprète de “La Mordue”, défend ses coups de gueules, ses amours, ses émotions… en un mot, sa vie.

Les chansons de La Mordue portent un regard sur le monde qui l’entoure, sur les gens qu’elle aime, ceux qui la séduisent. Elle ouvre aussi quelques parenthèses pour se moquer de personnages au comportement critique. Dans ce flot de sons, de mots portés sur la vie des autres, elle s’octroie quelques moments personnels pour rire d’elle même.

Les Mécaniques Poétiques” d’EZ3kiel s’installent au Château des ducs de Bretagne à Nantes Du 8 au 31 décembre.
Pour le lancement de cette exposition, le groupe organise un laboratoire, rencontre du public au Stereolux à Nantes. Une expérience dans les méandres de leurs créations sonores et visuelles.
Plus performance que concert, ponctué d’échanges avec le public, ce laboratoire est une mise en scène de leurs différents dispositif multimédia, un voyage, au cœur de leur univers fantastique et onirique.

L’exposition « Les Mécaniques Poétiques » à la Maison Folie Wazemmes
qui s’est déroulée à Lille du 08 octobre au 20 novembre 2011 a rencontré un vif succès totalisant près de 12 200 visiteurs.

Le concert experimental “Naphtaline Orchestra” d’EZ3kiel associant musique électroniques et symphoniques se produira le 19 février 2012 à 18h00 au théâtre Sebastopol de Lille en compagnie des symphonistes Européens de Pierre-Yves Gronier.
