Depuis 1993, le style de cette formation reste inclassable. Mariant avec élégance inspirations acoustiques et électroniques dans une démarche singulière, ils confrontent ‘’modernité ’’ et “révolu ”. Avec une musique à la fois brute et raffinée, une identité visuelle baroque et onirique jouant d’anachronismes, EZ3kiel explore et défriche, envisageant les nouvelles technologies comme des outils au service de leur art. Ils créent un univers où musique et images ne font qu’un.
Le style de cette formation reste inqualifiable, mariant avec élégance et inspiration musiques acoustiques et arrangements électroniques. Cette démarche singulière, qui consiste à confronter instruments et outils empruntés à la ‘’modernité’’ (samples, machines) déroute, surprend et charme forcément l’auditeur.
« Nous aimons confronter des atmosphères différentes, mélanger naïveté et dureté’’ rappelle souvent le groupe. Et la magie opère. Entre plages mélancoliques émaillées de crépitements électro et envolées lyriques brutales soutenues par les machines de Joan, EZ3kiel explore, défriche, effraie avant d’apaiser. Un fabuleux voyage chargé d’anachronismes, de violence et de féerie.
A ces différents climats, EZ3kiel juxtapose un graphisme emprunt d’un véritable univers personnel que le bassiste du groupe a su développer tout au long des années. Cette démarche consiste notamment à combiner avec habilité et un souci extrême du détail, peintures, étoffes, bibelots anciens avec des techniques actuelles venues des nouvelles technologies. Cet univers graphique si particulier constitue d’ailleurs la marque de fabrique du quatuor.
EZ3kiel s’est également forgé une solide réputation sur scène déclinant leur monde imaginaire lors des concerts. Envisageant les nouvelles technologies comme des outils au service de leur art, il projette images animées et vidéos où musique et univers graphique ne font qu’un.

The first step forward goes back to 1999, Joan Guillon (machines and keyboards), Yann N’Guema (bass and graphics creations) and Matthieu Fays (drums) delivered a first exciting and promising 6 titles record “Equalize-it”. The same year the creation of their own web-site www.ez3kiel.com by Yann provides indices on the artistic will of the band to look further into the visual aspect of their music. In year 2001 with the LP “Handle with care” (Jarring Effects/Pias)) the idea is here !
The richness of the compositions, the collaboration with Yan Tiersen, Sylvestre from Dit Terzi and Sir Jean from Meï teï Sho inrigues the audience. This record confirms the eclectism and the very personal style of the band. On stage, EZ3kiel integrates into the show what that makes already their characteristic : a poetic and invalubla universe with esthetic pictures and graphics. As the musical compositions of the band, Yann N’Guema draws the matter of pictures in very different registers. In year 2003, comes back with “Barb4ry” (Jarring Effects/Pias). Much more refined and mature, this 2nd LP affirms the identity of the band made of mixtures, anachronisms, musical experiments. Keeping on their research into hip-hop, dub and electro musics, EZ3kiel creates a dimension where the beauty and the melancholy are easaly hustled with violence and cruelty.
Artists as different as the first LP guests contribute to this record : Angelique Wilkie (Seven Dub, ex-Zap Mama), Angelo moore (Fishbone), the belgian quartet Daau, Black Sifichi (performer)…. In the year 2004 the “Versus tour”, where the wood and the strings meet the electro sound, is on the French road for 20 shows .This project created with the Flemish band DAAU has been recorded for a DVD and a live album available in France since January 2005. The mixture between the classical DAAU (violin, cello, accordion and clarinet) and the powerful sound and visual EZ3kiel experience is amazing. Also come to perform with them guests from the 2 LP to welcome the audience to their world made of explorations and experiments. On stage, the efficiency of EZ3kiel resides in their power to surprise. The elegant of the sound and visual performance mades of EZ3kiel one of the most exciting band of french electro music.
